Play of the Day: Colbert Knocks Trump at the Emmys

Stephen Colbert chided the awards for not honoring the president for his reality TV work.

After softening his stance on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program last week, some in President Donald Trump's voting base are unhappy with the president. Fox News' Greg Gutfeld joked that those unhappy with Trump should remember the alternative and showed a video of Hillary Clinton complaining about the 2016 election.

Late Show's Stephen Colbert hosted the 69th Primetime Emmys on Sunday night and devoted some of his monologue to Trump. Colbert joked about Trump's propensity for watching TV by noting the amount of new series nominated and later involved Late Night's Seth Meyers to mock a previous Trump tweet. Colbert also jokingly chided the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for not giving Trump an Emmy for The Celebrity Apprentice. "Why didn’t you give him an Emmy?" Colbert joked. "I bet he wouldn’t have run for president. So in a way this is all your fault."
