Play of the Day: 'Would' or 'Wouldn't?'

President Donald Trump clarified his remarks about Russian 2016 election meddling.

President Donald Trump returned from his summit with Russia's Vladimir Putin on Tuesday and was met by protestors outside the White House chanting "go back to Russia!" The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked that the Secret Service calmed everything by asking First Lady Melania Trump to quiet down.

After being widely criticized for his comments saying “I don’t see any reason why it would be” Russia meddling in the 2016 election, he said he misspoke and said "would" instead of "wouldn't." Late-night hosts joked about the word choice explanation, with Jimmy Kimmel joking that it was like Bill Clinton saying he did "have sex with that women." Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked that Trump could now fix one of his earlier gaffes by saying there "were a lot of bad people" on both sides in Charlottesville. The Daily Show's Trevor Noah took a similar road, saying that Trump is now going to say that his 2015 campaign kickoff event included Trump meaning to say that Mexico is bringing therapists instead of rapists.
