Play of the Day: Pence Watches As Trump, Schumer and Pelosi Argue
The vice president closed his eyes like he wanted to be anywhere else.
According to reports, President Donald Trump has had trouble filling the chief of staff job that will be vacant soon. The Tonight Show's Jimmy Fallon joked about the news, saying Trump's next declaration will be "That's it! Get me an illegal immigrant!"
During a photo op with top Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, Trump argued with the two and even said that he would be “proud to shut down the government for border security.” Late Show's Stephen Colbert joked about the quote, saying it was like Trump painting his name on a boat going over a waterfall. Late-night hosts also joked about Vice President Mike Pence's blank expression during the row, with The Daily Show's Trevor Noah joking that Pence looks like "a guy whose edibles just kicked in" and Late Late Show's James Corden saying that Pence was telling himself "Just hold still, Mike. No sudden movements. Maybe they won't realize you're here."
